Residents who have direct access to Shinjuku station is basically offered a wide assortment of transportation options.

Chiyoda ward lies to the east of Shinjuku Ward, while Shibuya ward borders its southern areas. The eastern area from Shinjuku Station and surrounding Shinjuku-sanchome Station, has the city hall and a wide range of shopping facilities including Isetan department store. The ward also houses the Shinjuku Gyoen, a massive park that showcases traditional Japanese, English-style landscaping and French-style gardens. Other interesting areas include Kabukicho and Golden Gai, which are entertainment centers.

The west side of Shinjuku Station is home to Tokyo’s largest concentration of skyscrapers, with several landmarks in the area including the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, KDDI Building and Park Tower. The Shinjuku Central Park, located  in Nishi Shinjuku is a charming and relaxing park with ample greenery in an otherwise urban environment.

Shinjuku offers a wide variety of residential areas, and depending on location could be upscale luxurious tower residences or low-rise houses or apartment blocks in relatively quiet neighborhoods. For example, the area from Shinjuku-Sanchome to Shinjuku-gyoenmae station has seen the construction of condominiums in recent years to this otherwise quiet housing environment, as well in Nishi Shinjuku.
